Men as Partners® (MAP) is a programme of EngenderHealth, implemented by individuals, community and national non-governmental organizations, faith-based institutions, government agencies and international development partners committed to addressing the twin epidemics of gender-based violence (including sexual violence) and HIV/AIDS. MAP strives to create a society in which men and women can enjoy equitable, healthy and happy relationship that continued the development of a democratic society. It does this by encouraging men to reduce their own risk taking behaviours, to take a stand against domestic and sexual violence and to become actively involved in reducing the spread and impact of HIV/AIDS.
MAP firmly believes in order to address gender-based violence and HIV/AIDS, men must take action to change and transform themselves and become gender activists.
EngenderHealth works to improve the health and well-being of people in the poorest communities of the world. We do this by sharing our expertise in sexual and reproductive health and transforming the quality of health care. We promote gender equity, advocate for sound practices and policies, and inspire people to assert their rights to better, healthier lives. Working in partnership with local organizations, we adapt our work in response to local needs.
With more than 60 years- experience in the field of international sexual and reproductive health, EngenderHealth currently supports projects in 40 countries through 20 offices worldwide.
